Lesson 1 — Running JS
JavaScript outside the browser
Node.js is a program that runs JavaScript on a computer or server, not just inside a web page. Developers use it to build web servers, command-line tools and scripts. The language is exactly the same JavaScript you already know, and console.log() still prints to the screen (in Node, to the terminal).
console.log("Server starting...");
Note: this playground runs JavaScript in your browser, not in real Node, so Node-only tools (like fs or http) are not available. The exercise is a small plain-JS simulation of the Node idea.
Why it matters: with Node, one language covers both the website and the server behind it.
Below the first line, log two more lines: "Port: 3000" and "Ready".
Run your code — when the output matches the task, you will see a green check. Then mark the lesson complete.
